　　Furniture is what fills the house with life. But it goes extreme when you furnish the room with too much furniture. Buy those furniture that are essentially needed in a living room. Consider soft furniture  like sofas and armchairs, a dining or coffee table, several chairs, a TV set holder, several bookshelves or small “china cabinets” in the corner for displaying some of your glass wear, souvenirs, pictures or your bar. That’s all.

　　　　You are excepted to have a nose for trend but never compare your house with your friend’s house or with what you see on TV shoes. Take the function and efficiency of a given part of furniture. Keep your money for something more important and practical.When buying furniture, especially soft ones, check if you feel comfortable on them. They should be neither too tough, like wooden chairs nor too soft that you will fall asleep quickly and the living room will soon turn to your bedroom.

　　Create a gaming area either for board games or cards. A square or round table with 2 - 4 chairs and a pendant light/chandelier is all you need. Add a floor lamp nearby for more ambient lighting. If not for games, how about adding a bistro set for light dining or morning coffee?

4. Decorate the Room
　　Except furnitures, think about accessories that will add extra beauty to your living room. Candle lamps, glasses or vases show up, add cushions, a soft carpet. Kill the darkness of the sofas with cushions of different colors. Place lamps near the reading or watching zone of the room. Decorate the shelves with candles, pictures or souvenirs that will add liveliness to the room.

5. Leave Some Space
　Since a living room is the place for rest and guests entertaining, it’s good to leave some space without any furniture. Besides it will be convenient for you to walk around without hitting your legs with something on your way.
